The Meridian Listing Workspace

Figure 1 shows the Meridian listing page in which you create listings. On the top of the page, below the navigation tabs, you have the buttons that allow you to create new auctions, delete auctions, save the current auction, create description templates, and search existing for auctions. On the left side of the page you have the tools for image manipulation and browsing. The right side of the page is where you enter all the relevant auction data.

Creating an Auction

Step 1: Creating a new auction
Click the red "new" button (see Figure 2) and a new auction item is created in the database, and the listing page is displayed with empty fields. You are now ready to start entering the auction data.

Step 2: Import images
There are two different ways to import images: one is to bulk import all images from a specified directory, the other is to select files with an Open File window. You control which way to import using the settings as seen in figure 3. If you check the box that says "Import all images from folder:", you can browse to the folder (by hitting the browse button) that you want to use for bulk importing. The folder you selected will show up in the text field. Then, when you click the red "Import Pics" button, it will import all the images from the specified source folder. If you uncheck the "Import all images from folder:" checkbox, you will be given an Open File window when you click the "Import Pics" button. You can use this window to browse to the location of your images, and you can select multiple images at a time by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking images with your mouse. When you are finished selecting images, click the "Open" button to import the images into Meridian.

After your images have successfully imported, the image browsing tool will show you your first image. You can then browse through all your images and edit them as you see fit with the image manipulation buttons.

Step 3: Editing the images
Using the image tool on the left-hand side of the screen, you can navigate through all your images using the "first, << back, next >>, last" buttons. The buttons below the image will allow you to adjust the brightness, contrast, and sharpness of the current image, as well as allow you to rotate, flip, or even delete the image (see Figure 4).

You will be able to navigate through the categories and subcategories to find the exact category for your auction. Click the "OK" button when you have selected the category you are interested in, and the window will close and the category number will be filled in the appropriate Category field. If you want to see a larger list of eBay categories all at once, you can click on the "eBay categories" link.

Step 5: Saving your auction
Click the red "Save" button to save your current auction data (see Figure 6). The description field and the category field must have values before it will let you save. Note that if you forget to hit the save button before moving on to the next step (creating a description), your auction data will automatically be saved after you have saved your description. Also note that saving here does not mean your auction is ready to be listed (see step 6). You will want to save at this point if you won't be creating your description immediately after, or if you are making changes to an auction that already has a description and is not yet listed.

Step 6: Creating and editing your descriptions
This is the final step to be taken before your auction can be listed. To create a new description using the WYSIWYG HTML editor, click either the blue "Create Description" or "Edit Description" button (see Figure 7). The description field and the category field must have values before it will let you create a description. You will then be brought to the editor where you can create or edit your item description. See the section on "The Meridian Description Editor" for help. When you have finished creating your description, the status of your Auction will be set to "Saved", and it will list according to the list schedule you set up (see step 4).
